Our guest speakers are among the most talented in the industry.

 Rev. Alva Garnes  has been our Interim Minister since January 2012. He has been involved in the New Thought Spiritual Movement for at least 25 years. He was a student under the direction of many well known Religious Science Ministers such as Rev. Henry Couperus, Dr. Dominic Pollafrone, Dr. Stuart Grayson and Dr. Alfred Miller. Rev. Alva is a graduate of the College of Divine Metaphysics and a graduate of the New Seminary of New York. Rev. Alva was mentored by Dean Diane Burke and Rabbi Joseph Gelberman. Rev. Alva is available for weddings, baptisms, christenings, baby naming, funeral and other special services. Rev. Alva has been involved with the Westchester community for many years.  


Rev. Marilyn Jackson has been an Ordained Minister for 20 years and for the past 5 years is serving as the Spiritual Leader at Unity East Church Center in Brooklyn,  N.Y.

She has served in ministry in many capacities with several churches as:  Director of Youth Education ,  Director of Spiritual Education, Keynote Speaker, as well as Hospital Chaplain & Workshop Presenter.

Rev. Marilyn presently serves as President of the Board of Trustees of Unity Worldwide Ministries Eastern Region.

In 2017 she will complete a Bachelorette at the State University of NY, with a concentration in Organizational Development.


Joyce Jackson began taking classes at First Church Religious Science in NYC in 1980 and has never stopped.  She earned her first Practitioner license in 1986 and became a staff minister in 1995.  She has taught classes, given lectures on Sundays and weekdays.  She currently conducts the Tuesday Noon Time and is in charge of the Treatment Department.  She speaks at other churches within the area.  While the organization was Religious Science International, she held supportive volunteer positions to benefit different chairs of the organization.  

As a retired librarian (from one of the three NYC's public library system--Brooklyn Public Library), she finds she continues the satisfactory service of assisting those seeking answers. 


Rev. Dr. Alfred Miller is a native of New Jersey. He graduated from Seton Hall College. He was ordained for the ministry in 1958 by the GOGIC Church. He received his Doctor of the Science of Living degree from the Science of Living Institute, New York in 1975. In 1994 he received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters (L.HD) from the John Dewey University Consortium.

Dr. Miller has been a minister of Truth and the Science of Mind for more than 40 years and he is founder and current minister of the Church for the Art of Living Ministry, a Church Without Walls (CWW) in Hempstead, NY. He has been the President of the INTA Eastern District of more than 25 years and has also been named INTA Ambassador. He has studied with many renowned SOM and Truth teachers and practitioners including Dr. Ervin Seale, Dr. Eric Butterworth, Dr. Raymond Charles Barker, Rev. Ike and many others.     

Reverend Nancy Hazzard has been involved in the Religious Science movement for over 25 years. She studied with Dr Raymond Charles Barker, Dr Stuart Grayson and Rev Wade Adkisson at First Church of Religious Science, New York City, She became a licensed minister in 2003, and served as Staff Minister in New York and White Plains for nine years.   Reverend Nancy has a broad and varied background, serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Venezuela for two years, then teaching in Amsterdam, NY and with the New York City Board of Education.   Her interest and background in music led her to study piano technology, and she currently works as a piano technician in New York City.  Reverend Nancy is now an independent Religious Science minister, and frequently serves as guest speaker in area Religious Science churches. She facilitates Religious Science study group in her home community of Staten Island, and does individual counseling and spiritual work.  

Rev. John Hannes

Staff Minister of the Spiritual Living Center of Morristown, NJ   Rev. John’s background is unusual for a New Thought minister. With a career as an engineer and business leader, John came to New Thought during a spring awakening after a health challenge. He has served as a guest speaker and workshop presenter throughout the US, Europe and Asia. John's Sunday lessons blend the poetic and the mystical with the practical to explore life’s questions and meaning. As a practitioner he provides spiritual counseling that helps individuals know a higher truth and greater growth in their lives. At Morristown, Rev. John serves as a staff minister, Board Advisor leading Visioning and Financial Planning, Teen advisor, Youth teacher and Men’s group facilitator in support of the community. In his classes students gain deeper insights into themselves while learning to apply Spiritual Principle.
